Service Description

Moss & Mushrooms is a Forest and Nature School program that incorporates math and literacy into child-led play and group activities facilitated by Early Childhood Educators. Tuesday, February 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th. 9:30AM-12:00 PM Warm beverages will be provided. For children 2-6years old accompanied by guardians and family. ( Older siblings may participate as well.) $80.00/child This program provides time and space for child-led play, inquiry, and exploration outdoors. A large part of each session is devoted to supporting and observing children's free play in the forest. We will make time for sensing, listening, reflecting, and sharing in a caring community that values curiosity and kindness. Activities will invite children to explore materials and concepts that support emerging math and language skills and knowledge. This session is designed for children two to six years old accompanied by parents/guardians. Guardians are responsible for the safety and supervision of their children while participating in these educator facilitated activities. There is no fee for babes in arms and everyone from infant to grandparent is welcome to join us. Feel free to babywear and feed your baby as suitable for your family. Please bring a refillable water bottles and snacks to keep your family fueled for play and learning. Play fuels meaningful learning! From observing shapes and patterns in nature, classifying and matching found objects, tracking movement, counting and measuring in the mud kitchen, drawing in the sand, building with sticks and rocks, reading and writing stories together, to sequencing story pictures, numbers, and letters. We use our eyes as well as our whole bodies to prepare for and practice math and literacy skills in joyful, spontaneous, and meaningful ways. Come explore math and literacy connected to nature!
